Default Wanted tips on cleaning up the interface

    Hi all,

Working with Sugar Community Edition 4.5.1E and PHP 4.4 I believe through a shared hosting package and I would really appreciate some ideas on ways to clean up some of the busyness of the home page and other areas of Sugar.

My users are typically blind or visually impaired and too much unnecessary clutter is taxing on screen reader and magnification applications like jaws, WindowEyes, and Magic.

I've hidden many tabs they won't use on a regular basis and would like to know how to get rid of some other items. like the short cuts, last viewed, and new contact entry form.

I don't want to completely disable the calendar from the installation but i wish i could remove it from their view, along with the employees, training, and about links.

Finally, when using a screen reader, as you scroll down the page it identifies the graphic, then the link resulting in it saying "contact, contacts link, documents, documents link" etc. Is there a way to eliminate the graphics to cut down on ear clutter?

Any other suggestions that might be helpful?

    Thanks so much,

    Rod

There really isn't an easy way to do this without just going through the code and removing the code you want gone. Most of this isn't too hard but unless you know the code it's a bit much to tackle as a first project. I wish I could be more help but what you asked for is a big job, more than I could go into detail here. Plus this is going to lock you into whatever version you do this on as upgrades will not be possible.

Another, upgrade safe, way would be to write a greasemonkey script to eliminate the layers and graphics you want. If you know javascript, this isn't a hard thing to do.
