    Desperate?

    Do you actually WANT help?

Firstoff, I won't ask WHY you would be trying to deploy such an outdated and old version of Sugar, call my psychic if you will, because I already know the awnser..

And I do want to complement ya,
The information you provided (paths, and versions) was spectacular..
The more detailed info you provide with support questions, the better I or anyone else can 'read' into things and actually give you solutions.

From the versions and path details, I am 99.9% confident in my assumption that you're using some ISP's (included) webhosting with your internet service, [or some real HORRIBLE webhost service].

From the 4.0 beta version of Sugar detail, I would assume you're trying to use/install sugar from an install pakcage of which is provided by your webhost (I sure hope is the case..)..
Because if you're trying to install Sugar from a 4.0beta package (installation archive) of your own, opposed to downloading a newer version such as 4.5 and installing from that, just wouldn't make any sense to me.. Especially seeing that you're familiar with Sugarcrm.com in order to have posted your troubles.

So getting to my point and solution:
First, download a newer (depending on opinion, some insist on 4.2.x for more stability, while many {including myself} would reccomend and go with 4.5.x) edition of Sugar to install.

Second, SCRATCH ANY AND ALL further thoughts or ideas of trying to install and/or run Sugar under that particular ISP or Webhosting service in which you're currently trying to use with Sugar.

They're (the admin of such) are incompetant [in regards to aspects of a server in which specifically affect YOU]. Those horrifically (imho) older versions of Apache, PHP, & MySQL are kinda less than acceptable in todays world and with many current apps dependant upon or requiring Apache 2 and v5 of PHP or MySQL.. Okay, 'horrifically' might be an overstatement, everyone understands the point I'm trying to hit home.

I know that you don't have the equipment, the knowledge or experience [of servers, networking, and their administration], nor want to invest/spend the large amounts of time to set such up let alone maintain it, just in order to be able to use a crm program..

So, go 'webhost' shopping (Be sure to verify they provide all neccessary features in which you'll need, such as MySQL, etc. As well as that they are running industry standard and current versions of such.. {Apache2, MySQL & PHP v5.x)

While [I tell my clients] to with a 'Linux' based hosting environment, and avoid Windows based hosting.

I also reccomend going with a fairly LARGE webhost provider!
Who is your choice, but make sure they're a big provider.. Why?

Too me, it's common sense, but here's a few of my reasons:
they're likely to be in business longer,
they're likely to have mor bandwidth,
they're likely to have better service and/or support,
they're likely to be reachable by telephone (and a large provider will have 24/7 support techs in which you can get through to.

Forget all that typing, here's a easy to understand analogy for everyone including yourself, whom has some common sense:

Would you rather have some 'guy' with a box of tools, work on your car? OR

Would you rather take your car into a large and established autmotive shop with lots of tools, equipment, resources, experienced (obviously) [and likely adequately trained] mechanics, with a physical business location you can walk into or go back to if you're unhappy or have issues with the work done?

And though for another, I might have asked if they had a GOOD reason as to why they insisted upon using/working with Sugar 4.0beta; however, I know you have no good reason [in my book] and this I can deduct with certainty from both your troubles you've mentioned AND your hosting environment details. So without further adoo..

So, as politely as I can convey it, please don't ask for any more help on installing Sugar, until you've both downloaded a newer version of sugar to install, AND acquired or have an adequate server/hosting environment.

Oh, and though not really important, I forgot to mention that an adequate 'webhosting' service will run ya $5-$20 a month depending on what features/services you get as part of that hosting..

So driving home another point, to new sugar users in general, IF you're too close minded or stubborn to spend [appx] $10 a month to run Sugar (and that's for a limitless number of other Sugar users just to add some 'cost' perspective), then such person(s) don't deserve any help or support [imho].

And I mention the above because I've had others try to debate that concept with me; while they're the one whom is not only COMPLAINing about some troubles of theres *, but also ASKING and wanting help.. Such never ceases to amaze me..

*[with me referring to requests for help and accompanying complaints of troubles/problems in which I believe (my opinion of course) are related to their hosting environment [in general], i.e. OS, or various daemon/server versions, etc..]

As for installing 4.5, prior to doing such, PLEASE READ OVER ALL the documentation (manuals) on SugarCRM.com, before asking for help on how to install it..

And then, should you have difficulties, please post them and I'm sure that myself or many others will gladly give ya a hand..

And on the flip side of that coin, if you're unwilling to spend a few dollars a month (if neccessary/applicable) to run & host Sugar on the net, then I wouldn't expect anybody to respond/reply to ya nor provide you with any help..

And I should mention, you do have the option of [an easy to install windows installation package] SugarCRM 4.5 for Windows which is downloadable from SugarCRM.com; however, I still highly reccomend the hosted route for many reasons (performance, other users, remote users, you can use it from any computer, from anywhere, more reliable and stable, etc.)

Check first if there unexpected data been echoed to the script before the session been fired. If yes, you have to eliminate the unexpected echoed data/characters/string that been echoed, before the session_start been executed.
Note: session_start must be execute before any characters will be echoed to the page.

If there is no unexpected string/characters been echoed before the session_start then try to :

Try to open config_override.php set the value of $sugar_config['developerMode'] to false. and then re-run the crm login. check if same error occurs.
