    Default Web to lead form

I am able to create a web to lead form through SugarCE. If I add all fields it works fine, successfully submitting the record to the database. If I add only the required last Name field plus a couple other basic fields, the form will not work. If I add all fields and then edit the form in a web design program, it does not work. What is the bare minimum required to make the form successful? I just want first name, last name, address fields and lead source.

The question is: what does not work? The form does not appear as planned or it doesn't give back any data? Or (and this is what I suspect) the form appears, you fill it and if you press "send" nothing happens.

Usually this is related to some weird editors (I think TinyMCE is particulariy bad in this respect). Some simply cut the non-html part from the form and thus everything seems to be ok but there is no code behind anymore.

On my Joomla site I use iframe in order to call the form directly from where it sits in my Sugar directory. If you plan to edit the form externally just make sure you have a copy of the original form saved and compare the two versions (the name must stay anyway because it serves as identifier).

And no, afaik there is no requirement for a particular set of fields.

    quick work around

the key problem with sugar forms is the validation of phone numbers emails and other system settings.

to get around this create your own custom fields by going into STUDIO -- these will then appear when creating your web form (in campaign section).

also if you have mandatory fields ie required fields deactivate this ie make sure they are not required fields because again it relies on the validation settings...

i know this is not the ideal solution but it works and there are no problems in wordpress with using the html code either

ps the form file permissions must be set to 640 otherwise you cannot view it in wordpress or elsewhere...

    goodluck
