    Default Weird User authentication problem

    Linux ds114 2.6.18-1.2798.fc6
    Sugar 4.5.1g
    Apache 2.0.59
    PHP 4.3.3
    MySQL 5.0.24

    Hi,

This is a bit of a bizarre problem, hopefully someone will be able to help me out.

We have a small sugar instance with 6 users. They connect using IE6 browsers on XP client machines through to the remote server with sugar. We have this problem affecting 2 specific machines. Here is the scenario ...

    User1 is logged into Computer1
    User2 logs into Computer2
User1 now loses their sugar session on Computer1 and instead sees the User2 session

If User1 then logs out and logs in, the same thing happend to User2. Very strange!

It's pretty clear that this I need to change something on the client machine, but what??!!

First checks showed that these two computers were cloned and they still had the same hostname. However I have changed the hostnames throughout the windows registry (yeeuch!), and the problem is still occuring.

How does Sugar go about authenticating User sessions? And does anyone have any ideas what else might be causing this conflict? I guess there's probably another Registry setting that I need to change.

Thanks for your help in advance!!

    Magic Bob

Trying to change the host name through the registry probably left a lot of issues. See what your machine says when you right click on My Computer and go to the Computer Name tab. See if it says what you think it should say.

Editing the hostname in the registry sounds like a recipe for disaster.
