Welcome Email

I will be setting up a bunch of users for a client and need to send them all a Welcome email with the URL link, their userid and password for the system.

My thought is to modify the test email message and make that a Welcome Email when I'm setting up their account. Where would I find the layout for that test email and how can I modify it to put their userid and password?

If you are also going to leverage the feature which causes Sugar to generate a password for you, you could simply edit the "System generated password" email template in the Emails module. That may save you some time.

I thought about that, but they want to keep their passwords consistent so it's less confusing for the employees.

Where would I find the template for the test email when putting in the SMTP settings?

It is in en_us.lang.php in modules/Emails/language.

OK that's perfect and exactly what I wanted to change. Now I just need to figure out how to add variables to these text labels and which variables to use for Userid and password.

Angel, I updated that php file and changed the text within the LBL_TEST_EMAIL_BODY. However when I send the test email, it still sending the old PHP labels.

To modify the other content, add variables and what not, you'd have to modify the sendTestEmail function in modules/Emails/Email.php.

Note that this is not upgrade-safe.

Try running a repair to see if it solves the problem with the updated message not taking.

I'm starting to like the other idea of modifying the password generation email instead since that email always goes out to new users. Where can I modify that email?

Go to the Emails module and then select "View Email Templates"

It should show up in the list.

Duh!!!! I should have know that one...

I wish they put ALL emails in this spot like the test email and stuff.
