What is edit area compressor?

What is edit_area_compressor? I see it in my apache log, and it takes a long time (20 seconds) for my pages to show, eventhough the server response at the bottom takes less then 1 seconds.

I'm not sure if this is a custom module I installed, but it keeps showing up on most of the module I try to load.
Does anyone know where this is from or what this is?
