You need to provide credentials that correspond with your MySQL server, not Sugar.
Take a look at your config.php file that Sugar uses and you should be able to retrieve the MySQL credentials that Sugar utilizes, which you in turn should be able to use in phpMyAdmin.

Yeah that's exactly it. Keep in mind though that you can do a lot of damage with phpmyadmin.
