What is an opportunity role and how to use them?

can somebody please explain me what an opportunity role is and how they can be used?

Hello Andreas,

the opportunity role is a relationship between a contact and an opportunity. It lists the role/responsibility that the contact has in relation to that opportunity. You can set this field by doing the following:

-Go to the Detail view of an opportunity
-Scroll down to the Contacts subpanel. If there is a contact linked to the opportunity, you will see a little pencil edit icon on the right hand side. Click on this, and you will be brought to a new screen which displays the Contact name, Opportunity name, and Role.
