where can i change user privileges?

when i login as admin, go to the admin page and select a sugar - user, I can can see the privilege matrix.
But where and how can i change the matrix??

Next question is what is stronger, a user role or the privilege defined in the matrix?

Hello Rudi,

the matrix you see in the User detail view is based on the Roles. If you create a role and assign a user to the role, you will notice that the matrix changes to display the role privileges.

A second question is, if its possible to declare a substitute in case that
a user gets ill or something like that.
In the role matrix i can only say for example "you have the right to edit Contacts of ALL other users".
But is it somehow possible to say "you have the right to edit Contacts from user X"?

Hi Rudi,

out of the box, it is not possible to declare a role where user A can edit all of user B's records. This would require custom coding.

A possible option you have is to install a Team security plugin. Sugar Pro and Ent has team security already implemented. Then you could assign records to teams where only users that belong to that team would be able to view that record.

I have tried out one, but it wasnt compatible with the newest version
