Default Where are the custom fields

    *panic*

I've got about 70 custom fields in 'Leads', but now they are gone...

I think it happened after rebuild relationships or extensions???

I dont know how to migrate the Custom fields from my leads_cstm to the Custom-fields because it was my coworker did it before and he isn't working in this company anymore...

in the custom/modules/leads/lang is only the label-file

    Using Sugar 4.2.1.b
    phpMyAdmin - 2.8.2
    MySQL - 5.1.11-beta

Thanks and have a nicer weekend than me

When you say they are all gone, do you mean the leads_cstm fields are gone, or just the studio data?

Cool Re: Where are the custom fields

you have to add the custom fields to the "leads import" --- and if your coworker did, they are still "there"...

are the fields still in the "leads" form? We are talking about two different sections that are connected. I don't think the leads fields will carry forward, so you have to input the data fields into the other sections if you want to view it.

we are making it easy on the web import and defining the fields in advance for our clients --- otherwise, you've got a lot of data entry and forms to edit...I learned this the "hard way" last week, but it taught me a lot about SugarCRM.

Suzanne, though Ken already asked as well [for more details],
I'll ask as well and try to give ya a hand [any day for a lady]..

Let me ask it this way:
"Do you see any sign or mention of your [missing] custom fields, ANYWHERE throughout SugarCRM [the web based GUI.... Not any programming code or otherwise]?"

"In regards to the module in which your custom fields are located, when you view a record in that module, or edit a record...
Are your custom fields still there on the screen? And is the data that was entered into those custom fields, being displayed when you view a record? And/or being saved when you edit a record?

Normally, custom fields can be seen in numerous areas which include:
    1) The IMPORT function of a module (which lets you insert into SugarCRM data from a file you 'upload'/send to Sugar);
There is a page/screen [during the Import process] in which you 'map fields' whereby you choose which sections (columns) of data from your uploaded file, and where in Sugar (which fields) to store/put that data.

    2) In the 'editing/viewing' of custom fields function, located in Studio. If you Go to the admin panel, click on Studio, choose "Edit a module", hen choose the [applicable] module (which should have your custom fields), then choose "Edit Custom Fields", and finally click on "View Custom Fields".

and other locatiions, irrelevant in regards to helping you now.

Since you mentioned having myAdmin installed, I want to fire it up in your browser and select your SugarCRM database, and then click on the 'fields_meta_data' table which will be listed in the column (frame) of table names which is on the left side of the screen/page.

Proboly the most important question... What do you see [in the fields_meta_data table} after having clicked on the fields_meta_data table????

In SugarCRM the custom fields data is stored in numerous (if you consider 3 'numerous' lol) locations, getting to my point, The custom fields in SugarCRM come from the custom field(s) [existence/configuration data] which is stored in local files (files that are part of that SugarCRM deployment). I won't get into those at this point, as is, you're probably already thinking "what the heck is he talking about.... damn men... can't they make anything easy."

The 'contents' of the fields_meta_data table if present can be used to 'reconstruct' your custom fields vardefs (assuming fields defs are missing)

Trying to wrap this post up myself.. Please give us some more info, and out of any [non-SugarTeam member] forum member, Ken is probably the best (most knowledgeable & experienced in regards to the technical/devel. end of Sugar), so give'em some more details if possible.

    Ja

    Thanks for the reply

"Do you see any sign or mention of your [missing] custom fields, ANYWHERE throughout SugarCRM [the web based GUI.... Not any programming code or otherwise]?"
No, nothing, neither in the 'edit-custom-fields->ModuleSearch->leads' nor in the toolbox on the left side, when I try to edit the layout. But they were there last week (before Friday), I've already made a lot of layout work and things like that.

"In regards to the module in which your custom fields are located, when you view a record in that module, or edit a record...
Are your custom fields still there on the screen? And is the data that was entered into those custom fields, being displayed when you view a record? And/or being saved when you edit a record?
No, they are not saved and they are not displayed, only the labels/names are visible.

What do you see [in the fields_meta_data table} after having clicked on the fields_meta_data table
Nothing, this table is empty, I can only see the structure... that is the problem I think?

I have still the leads_cstm-table with data... I cant' believe that I have to re-write all custom fields again manually... unfortunately I have no possibility to ask my ex-coworker because he was 'fired' and he's not willing to help me anymore (sure, that's normal... hehe).

But on last Friday, I worked a lot with import data with my self-written import tool (php), but this tool only imports data from a firebird database into my leads_csm/accounts_cstm/etc table. But that cannot be the reason why the custom fields disappear?

    Greetings
    Susanne

    Hi all,

hehe, thanks to our lazy admin...

I found another instance of sugar on another server with the old custom fields an I was able to re-import the custom fields (I stored them now at an safe place...)

Problem solved... and I will not go the same way like my ex-coworker...

Greetings from cold and misty Deutschelant

    Susanne
