Question Where do Calls & meetings go???

I'm definitely new to sugar, but I thought that you should be able to import calls & meetings and have them show up under the Activities tab, either under the Accounts or Contacts, or even Calendar for that matter.

Can anyone tell me where they are supposed to be and if it's possible to have them listed as an activity or History( obviously when they are Closed)

ANY help would be greatly appreciated as I'm trying to get up and running and haven't slept in at least 4 days !!

The behavior you describe for linking the items is built-in, however, you must associate the call/meeting to the account/contact by either using the "Related to" area or adding the item via the subpanels. I don't think there is a way to link them to a account/contact via the import process, but haven't tried it. I know you can do it via the API.

    What is API?

    again I apologize..I'm exhausted

I have been matching to ther "relating to " field, but I think it has something to do with my ID number changing. I'm pulling this info from a GoldMine database and left the Account numbers as they were so Sugar changed them with out the funky characters that GM loves so much!!

In order to import to related records for Activities, you must have the ID of the related record from Sugar, not Goldmine. If the system does not find an exact match , it will not appear as linked to the related record in Sugar.

You must also include the Parenttype, or you will receive errors upon import. Parent type is the related module's type (IE: Accounts, Contacts, Opportunities etc)

I know that, I guess that's why I'm so puzzled.

I'm importing one company at a time and linking it to the correct company and contact and user, yet I look at the calendar and there is nothing there. I know I'm probably not explaining this correctly, but shouldn't the calls and meetings show on the calendar and also under the activities tab at the bottom of either the Contact or company depending on how it was linked???

Yes, they should, which seems to indicate that they were not linked correctly or something happened during the linking process.

How did you go about linking them?

I went to Calendar, Meetings and import. Then I matched all the fields. For the Related to, I chose the account or contact that it should be linked to.

should I have chosen the ID?? and if so, can I export all my contacts and adjust the spreadsheet to include the appropriate fields and reimport the activities based on that exported id???
