Where to set the system-wide tabs?

As an admin, where in SugarCRM do I set the system-wide navigation tabs that appear across the top of the page?

Running a 5.5.0 installation, I can change the tabs by going to Admin -> Developer Tools -> Configure Tab Groups.

However, running a 5.0.2j installation, I found I have to change the tabs by going to Admin -> Developer Tools -> Configure Tabs.

Trying to change the tabs on 5.5.0 by going to "Configure Tabs" will not work, and conversely, trying to change the tabs on 5.0.2j by going to "Configure Tab Groups" doesn't work.

Can someone please explain what the difference is? This is really confusing. Thanks.

Setting tabs in 5.5.1RC2 using Configure Tabs works fine for me.

In 5.5.1 (and I assume 5.5.0), whether you are using Group Tabs is set from the Page Style link at the top right of the screen. In 5.2, I believe it was set from My Account. Both are on a per user basis.

When you are using Group Tabs, the tabs shown at the top are grouped so fewer tabs are shown and how they are grouped is controlled by Configure Group Tabs admin tool.

When you are using Module Tabs, there is a tab shown at the top for each individual module. These tabs are controlled by Configure Tabs admin tool.

Also, the subpanel tabs on Detail Views are controlled by the Configure Group Tabs admin tool. This works as expected in 5.5.1, but did not quite work right for me in 5.2, particularly for custom modules.

So you may be looking at the Detail View subpanel tabs, or you may have your Page Style set to Group Tabs, in which case Configure Tabs won't show any changes. But if you have your Page Style set to Module Tabs, then you should be able to control what tabs appear using Configure Tabs. This is generally true for both 5.5 and 5.2.

Thank you, datasponge. As you suspected, the PageStyle was different between the two versions I am running, and that was causing the problem.
