Why is this field appearing twice in the Layout views?

I have created a custom field in the Contacts module, let's call it fave_color_c.

When I drill down to look at the fields within the Contacts module, (Admin -> Studio -> Contacts -> Fields), the fave_color_c field very definitely only appears once.

But, when I am editing the Layout views, it appears twice. When I am importing records, it also appears twice (in the dropdown menu of available mapping fields).

What's going on?

You might want to try performing a quick repair and rebuild via the Admin control panel. Sounds like something might have gotten a bit misaligned at some point.

I ran in to a few other problems so have opted for a fresh install.

Are the databases dynamically created based on the values in the configuration files? (Like vardefs.php).

You also need to account for fields_meta_data as that's where the definition of custom fields is stored.
