Why no many to many relationships with Product Catalog

Hi there,

Does anybody know why many to one and many to many relationships are not possible for Product catalog-other module relationships? Only one to many and one to one relationships seem to be possible.

Maybe anyone a suggestion how this might be possible anyway?
