workflow - add contact to target list

Hello,
I have a workflow set up that sends out an alert message to a Contact when a field ("Status") in that Contact's record is updated to a specific value ("Approved").

The workflow is functioning properly by sending out alerts.

I would like to add an action to this workflow. I would like to have the contact added to the subscription list for a newsletter and the un-subscription list for another newsletter.

How?

One (of many) unsuccessful approach(es) I've tried is:
I have tried running a report of every contact with Status=approved.
The report updates properly when I change the Status of a contact but although the target list is drawn from the report, the target list does not update if the report is re-run and the results of the report change. The target list is not updated.

How?

Seems like you should be able to use a logic hook to accomplish the task.

Your logic hook would fire the code that adds/removes the contact from the corresponding newsletter list when the save occurs.

First off, thanks for the reply.

Second, Would that be adding the logic hooks into the php directly or by using the "Create Action" feature of the Workflow module?

Not entirely sure to be honest...

Most times that I've done with logic hooks, I've either been working on a CE install which doesn't have the workflow engine, or I was working on a system that did not use them.

I'll try to dig on the devzone site to see what I can find.

I also noticed that the devguide is out for 5.1 but 5.2 was just released and apparently it's quite the update. Very significant from what I hear. I may have to wait for a 5.2 guide.
