    Default Workflow for Sale

    Please help me out here.

I am evaluating SugarCRM Pro but am having trouble getting it to do what I want. I cannot find any documentation on workflow apart from a timy reference in the admin guide. I need an easy way for our office staff to process an order. basically from the accounts page I want the member of staff to add a product to the account when a sale occurs. I want this activity to trigger a number of tasks. The problem is I cannot assign a task to a product. I can assign one to a account but how do I set up a condition to fire the task when the product is added to the account?

I like what sugar appears to be able to do but the lack of workflow docs worries me.

    Regards
    John

Have you looked at the Quotes module? It can be used as an order processing system. There are a lot more workflow options available through the Quotes module, including Tasks...

I'm looking for the same kind of functionalityfor a custom app based on SugarCRM. It doesn't look like its there.

    Here is my meta process.

Select an employee record (Contacts Module), copy certain fields from that record into a new Personnel Activities record (located in an another table, repurposed from the Tasks Modlue) to allow the end user to perform some analysis between existing data and new data they will hand enter. When done they will save the New Personnel Activity. It can be refrenced for the future as it will be persistent with the data in that instance in time.

This requires the wizard to allow the end user to specify the datafield name explicitly and an action verb like COPY in the workflow.

I don't see it anywhere. (forums, docs, or wiki) jrg

So you know, it is possible to write your own workflow objects as well as logic_hooks.

I'd start by looking at those two options.

    Hi John,

Have you attended the Sugar University Workflows Workshop? It's a 3-hour course with hands-on labs that you would find useful in finding out what you can and cannot do with workflow and practice doing it during the course -- bring your workflow ideas with you to class to discuss with the instructor!

Check out the Sugar University schedule here: http://www.sugarcrm.com/crm/universi...p?tab=schedule.
