    Default Workflow Tasks and Due Dates

    I can not figure out how to setup a workflow that says:


    "If todays date > due date, send email to whoever"

    I have cases that when built a workflow creates tasks such as

    1. notify customer
    2. confirm order

    I set the due date to 2 days after trigger date. this all works fine

    now i want to keep a constant check to see if any of these tasks are overdue.

    Hi,

    What you can do is.

    1: When creating the task with the workflow based on a Case, set the task a Status (Whichever You Like)
    2: Create a time based workflow on the task that will trigger is the Status has not changed after 2 days for example.

    Thanks for the quick response, but unfortunately that's not what I need.

    We have activity tasks that are created with a due date (tied to a variety of records - account, case, contact, etc.).

    When that due date passes, I want an email sent to the person assigned, reminding them that the task is now past due. That's all.

    OK sorry,

    Just create a Time based Workflow and set the trigger to due_date was more then a specified time ago, you choose them from a dropdown i.e. 1 day, 1 week, etc... This is built into the Workflows already.

    Thanks for the redirection!

    The terminology in the options is not very clear. In case other searchers come across this, this is what I did.

    • Create a workflow with "Execution Occurs: After Time Elapses", and "Target Module: Tasks", and "Applies To: New and Updated Records"
    • Add a condition with "When a field in the target module changes to or from a specified value" where "field: Due Date", then "Specify new ' Due Date: ' value:" "was more than (or is less than)" "X time ago (Or is X time from now)"
