    Default Would I use Roles or CE Teams module to restrict access

    I have myself, and 3 other real estate agents that work for me at this time.

    What is the best way to have each agent create/edit/view their own leads/contacts/meetings etc..

    I would like to be able to view the information as well either through the admin login or some other method - not really all that important.

    Any expansion on the implementation of roles or the CE teams would be appreciated.

    Hello srobb,

    You can use both Teams and Roles to set this up.

    Teams restricts who has access to view the record in the system. If a record is assigned to Team A, only members of Team A(and administrators) will be able to view the record in the system. This does not restrict who has access to modify the record. That is where Role security comes into play.

    You use role security to determine what permissions a user has in regards to a record. So you would use role security to, for example, only allow users to modify records that are assigned to them.

    Within roles, you do have the ability to say that users can only view records assigned to them. However, if you think that you will want more than one user to be able to access a record, then it is best to use Teams for this.

    Thank you.

    So you are saying that the easiest way at THIS time might be just to assign the role that users and only view their own leads/contacts etc.. which in theory also limits them to editing their own entries.

    BUT

    If I think further down the line I might want to have them share any information, then it would be wise to start by implementing teams and and roles from the start?

    I really fouled things up. I tried doing editing the roles, and adding the CE Teams and then I deleted them. Now one of my users can no longer view any of their leads. I can see them in admin but not through their account. They can view the ones under "last Viewed" but not by going sales-leads, as that screen is completely blank of leads. Any ideas?
