    Question Your Feedback Appreciated

I am operating in Windows XP Pro ver5.1 SP 2. The other stuff (sugar suite version, webserver type, php, mysql) is yours from the most current download/install.

I am a little confused. I REALLY like what I see in the CRM but am not sure I am using it correctly. Please comment on the following:

    >I installed and am operating on a standalone computer to try this out (not the hosted system - open source). The installation was overwhelming to say the least. A lot of stuff I had no idea what I was doing. Not like a typical software install. It SEEMS to be running OK. The plan is - assuming it works - to implement the hosted version in our sales force.

    >Is this meant to be used on a stand-alone computer? I read that "insallation for dummies" post, or tried to. Oh my goodness. Certainly not a typical software install.

    >When it is running, it seems to interfere with my internet connection. Is this normal?

    >Sugar runs in my browser but I can turn my internet connection off and it still works. Is that normal?

    >Geez - you can delete ALL of your contacts or accounts or whatever with no prompt of "are you sure..." using mass update. That's dangerous!

    >It's pretty slow. Every mouse "click" takes about 3-5 seconds to respond. If I was on-line I could understand. But this doesnt' appear to rely on a internet connection. Is the delay normal?

    >Where is my data!?!?

It's a bit tougher than a normal software install because you have to install other software (3-4 packages) at the same time. I assume you downloaded the Bitrock Windows Installer. The install is much easier on a server machine (either hosted or not).

It can run as a standalone but it is intended to be a server based multiuser system.

Not 100% sure but I am going to say no. But then on a windows machine who know whats going on. Sugar still works after you turn off the internet because its not on the internet. Its hosted on that machine itself.

probably should be added, but ive never had a problem with it. just on the delete tho, if I checkmarked stuff and selected what to do I don't need another popup asking me if I am sure.

all depends on your hardware and software configuration. I would assume since you just installed from the bitrock installer you got the most generic of setups and configurations. It really needs to be tweaked for your hardware. Also what else is installed on the machine. IIS? Antivirus? etc... all can affect proformance.
