Create target list for all contacts or lead source

I'm trying to setup a target list that includes all the contacts in the database. The only way I can see to do that is by adding the contacts 20 at a time, which is extremely tedious since we have several thousand of them. Also, I would like to be able to create a target list for each Lead Source in my contact list, however lead source is not a valid search term under the contacts sub screen in the target list.

Finally, I would like email targets to always reflect the current contacts list, but it looks like once you build a target list, that list is static in the database.

I'm sure I'm missing something since this is seems like real basic functionality, but I can't find any way to do it.

Any help would be appreciated.

You can easily increase the amount of Views per page by going to the Admin Panel and then clicking System Settings. The first field says "Listview Items per Page". Just increase that number and it will show as many as you want.

This is one of the most glaring failings of the campaign module. It SHOULD be easy to search according to some special criteria (zip code, area code, lead source, last name, etc) and then add the leads or contacts to a campaign list. I have written several posts regarding this problem, which, in my opinion, makes the module useless --- but the sugar team has not responded. Maybe if you make enough noise, someone will listen. But you have to should pretty loud in this room to be heard.

I wouldn't heavily rely on the people from Sugar to comment. I've been on this forum for a few little while now and I have posted several times and never gotten a response...that helped. I use this forum to hopefully find where someone at sometime posted something that I can pull from. There are a lot of issues with the Campaign tool. It is close to being good but there are things that could be improved.

I'm sure Sugar has all of them on a big white board somewhere and just don't have the time to get to them.

I have been looking for this for over a year. Recently I found a post about "Power Prospecting" that basically makes this available. I never realized what the module did so I never investigated it further. Basically it appears to add various fields in the "mass update" area that allows you to assign selected contacts/leads/etc. to various things - one of which is a target list. So, you add your contacts to the list from the "contacts" module, not from the "target" module. Appears to work very well.

Check it out. When I checked last week, there was not a "version" for 4.5.1 - but simply editing the manifest to include 4.5.1 allowed it to install with no problem.

Hi revolve, you validated the proposition that a forum where the ENTIRE community, and not just the folks here at Sugar, contributes is a Good Thing. We readily admit that there are Sugar users who actually know more than we do about certain things about Sugar!! We learn, as do you.

As for a big white board, it's the Feature Request forum (for larger, thematic ideas) and the Bug Tracker for more tactical suggestions and bugs.

As for time, it's all a matter of priorities in a constrained world. Unless your issues are logged I'm afraid they may be missed. And even if they're logged, no single release can address all issues.

So I encourage you and others to take advantage of these tools to at least get on the board.

i am not sure if this will help or not, as i just started with the campaigns module and sugar. we only have about 10,000 contacts, but what i did to add them to the list was create by a report to get the contacts that i want, and then add by report. for instance create a report that includes all your contact from a specific state or country and then add the results of that report to your target list. you can then populate all in one go. we do this state by state as we include specific rep information depending on the territory, and this helped us. you can always use the duplicate report feature to quickly make reports to cover all your contacts. you can then create a new list just before your next blast and it will include the new contacts since they would be included in the report.

Here is the Power Prospecting module for 4.5.1 .. It alters the MASS UPDATE feature to allow you to MASS UPDATE specific target lists..

WARNING : This will reset your Contact/Leads/Targets/Accounts PUBLISHD FORMS back to default. To fix, after install, just go back into the STUDO and RePublish your Saved forms.


Whats realy needed is a seperate module to simply Dump search results to a Target List.

For example.. Say you search your 10,000 list Database of Targets/Leads/COntacts whatever.. Based upon a search criteria.. this gives you a breakdown list of 1234 records.. You should be able to dump this list of 1234 strating into a Target List with one button click..

Sugar CRM is like an Arabian Stallion, ready to race, but its feet are cemented to the ground, due to this glaring crippling oversight of design.

NOTE : On any List view, you can click the Top Checkbox next to EXPORT, to automaticaly select all listed records. You can alter the number of listed records in the ADMIN/GENERAL SETTINGS for SugarCRM.

Meanwhile I wonder if there is a simple solution to this problem :

I would like to filter contacts according some account's fields like SIC code, activity, type, ...

I'm able to add a custom field in the contact advanced search view but I do not know how to add a customer field.

Try going into ADMIN/STUDIO/EDIT MODULES.. Where you will find Contact, Accounts, Leads, Targets modules. In here you can add in custom fields to the database and attach them into forms for searching on the front end ADVANCED SEARCH. You will only be able to add Customer Fields to Customer module, Accounts to Accounts etc. Im not sure I understand your question exactly, but try ask in the main Help forum so others can see it.

Back on Topic, Im going to work on an extra EXPORT option that dumps all the EXPORT info into a TARGET LIST instead of just a CSV file. Will try.. I havnt coded PHP for about 5 years.. lol..
