How to assign multiple lead sources or other categories?

Hi guys, when I import my database into Sugar 5.0 it's going to be from several different Excel spreadsheets that are allocated to different categories of contact.

So I'll have contacts who are assigned to many different categories, eg VIP, Advertiser, agent, etc. Some of my contacts appear on several spreadsheets so I need a method of labelling these contacts with multiple categories.

For example, Roger Ramjet is a VIP and he is also an advertiser, a member of the Friday club and belongs to our Loyalty group. When I send an email newsletter out to the Friday members I want him to get it. I also want him to get newsletters emailed to advertisers so I can't give him just the category of Friday.

I thought of adding these category names to the "Assigned to" dropdown list as when preparing a newsletter campaign I can select contacts based on different "assigned to" names.

However, I can't assign more than one name to a contact. Nor can I give a category more than one lead source so that's not an option either.

What would you suggest I do in this case?

Hi

You might have to add a few custom fields, using
checkbox for some and dropdown lists for others.

Thanks, I have done that. However, how do I make them searchable so I can select only contacts with those dropbox or fields when building my target list?
