Default Lead form problem - solution and bug found!

    Hello board,

I wanted to post this separately with a new title just to get the word out, rather than put this in the thread I started yesterday where people may not go back to see it.

Problem: Web Lead Form didn't work.

Why: it turns out that having the required field toggled to yes on a custom field was the culprit. My IT guy, when troubleshooting the problem, had me toggle the custom field to not required and make a new form, then drag and drop the field over like before. Presto! The form worked like it should. The usual default field of last name worked fine, so this is a bug with a custom-made field set to "required" messing things up on the form when set on one's website. Just to confirm we ran a couple of tests of toggling "required" on and off on fields and made several web-to-lead forms just be sure, and yep...that was the issue.

I hope someone out there finds this helpful or at least interesting. SugarCRM staff will hopefully see this and address the issue for the next version release. I'll report this
    as a bug to support.

    Hi Lythande,

    Thanks for reporting the issue.

I tested the "required" custom field in web to lead form and it worked for me on 5.2.0 CE build 5380. To better understand the problem, can you share your environment and the detailed steps to reproduce it?

    Thanks,
    Franklin

    Hello Franklin,

I'm using Sugar CE 5.2.0, but not sure what build it is. My OS is Windows XP. All I did was copy the HTML code produced by Sugar into my website's CMS, then clicked save. It's working like a charm without my custom field being toggled to "required". Still, I would love for it to be required as some submissions have left it blank.
