Default Leads to Contact? Or Account

Fairly common question I suppose - I've got web site leads that when they become customers I need to cnvert them from leads. We're dealling with consumers - should the leads be converted to a contact? Or an account?

To compound the question, sometimes we'll have husband and wifes who are seperate but related. i.e we want them related but probably seperate fields for what they purchase.

Yes, this comes up quite a bit and the answer always depends on the specific situation. If your customers are individual consumers would probably be best served by converting Leads to Contacts, however, you may need to enhance the contacts module some to track more fields. Another approach is to convert to Accounts and have the Account represent the household. This would allow you to track all related contacts under one Account, such as husband and wife.

The Accounts module is more geared toward being a customer record as well.
