    Question List Management

Has anyone worked out the best/any way to manage Target Lists?
We are using CE v 5.2 and my users have a number of Target Lists which they would now like to merge as some of the lists have overlap.

We can't instal PowerProspecting as it currently a version behind (no criticism!)

This would seem an elementary requirement and has potential for a great deal of time saving/making more user friendly. It might be heresy to say this but I think ACT did this 10 years ago?

    Any thoughts/suggestions

    Thanks in advance

Depends on what you want. If you need the lists for emails all overlapping addresses will be taken out automatically. I suppose it's the same if you mark a campaign as sent so that you have just the campaign entry but no action (I refer to Sugar target lists which can consist of targets, leads and contacts)

Of course it's worse with call lists, there is no tool in CE unfortunately.

If your target lists reside outside of Sugar you may want to try the deduplication through the import tool. But yeah, it's a pain.

And for the rest: Welcome to SH Global. You're not alone anymore...

We don't use "Targets" but "Contacts" as our target customers are all known contacts in the main if that makes sense (small industry) and yes it is managing call lists and also newsletter subscriptions which we want to streamline. I know about the auto de-dupe on a mailshot/campgain but in Manage Subscriptions for a contact there is a problem if there is more than one Target List associated with the Newsletter which is noted elsewhere in various threads.

Instead of exporting data to a spreadsheet it would be good to be able to edit the data in a data sheet view a la Sharepoint.

Perhaps they should be called "Hit Lists" ior "Pick List" nstead given they can be composed of different types of contact/lead/target.

Just a couple of thoughts, thanks for the feedback

I undestand what you're saying. "In-line" editing is on he wishlist for long.

You may want to try a workaround (we do it this way but I usually do not recommend it to customers unless they are really responsible people). If you use Open Office it's pretty simple to connect to your Sugar Database and edit records directly in base. I think it doesn't work with joined tables though (contacts_cstm for your custome fields)

It should work with MS Access as well.
