Smile Number of emails sent per batch

    Dear All,

I am a new fresher with SugarCRM.

Would you tell me the limitation number of emails sent per batch in email campaign?

We need to send 200K emails to customers using newsletter campaign every month.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,

I think there isn't : you can set this limit in admin->Email Settings->Number of emails sent per batch

    Thanks Samuel.

But how about is the performance of sending email if we set 200K emails per batch?
    This is my concern.

Did you do it? I was wondering if it worked.
If you havent tried, i suggest against it, we have many issues and only are sending to 3K emails.

There are many professional software packages that will do much better a service with volumes you are facing...

If i left 500 per batch and add 5000 leads to target list - 500 will be a limit or it going to send 10 batches just to not kill a server?

    Hi,

I can only advise you to be careful on this matter due to own bad experience with a mailing of 2k including an attachment of 500kb sent with every mail. This killed our LAMP server (running Sugar 4.5.1d) in a very bad way by flooding first the mail server and then the remaining partitions of our server with data. I still do not know the exact reason for this. See my post on this issue: Link

What I have figured out is that you need

    1) sufficient space on your mail server (we had 15GB that were not enough for strange reasons)
    2) a lot of RAM allocated to php ( we had only allocated 400MB as suggested by a bloody instruction paper) and should have given at least 1.5 GB RAM to php

If you manage a big mailing please post your results here, thanks!

Yes - that's exactly right - the system will send 500 from the queue each time the scheduler fires off - a little like X-On and X-Off in days gone by - just to slow things down so your app server and email server are under less stress. Although you know what they say about increasing the size of a buffer - it is just postponing the inevitable! No question the overall process eats memory - the suggestion to allocate a LOT of memory to PHP - and indeed to have a lot of physical memory on the server, is a good plan. But using a commercial service that has gone through the process of white-listing their server is also a good plan if you are sending significant volumes of campaign email.

    hi,

we have set the batch size to 25 emails and we have set the scheduler to call every 5 minutes the job.

so with this 2 parameters you can play arround, avoidig that too large email batches are triggered.

    regards
