Web to Lead Form Validation - Does Not Work with Submit Button Image

Hi, I created a Web to Lead form. I have a few Required Fields that are validated and must be filled out. It works fine until I make it the submit button an image. After the required field popup shows up, it automatically transfers the user to the next page. Is there any way to prevent this?
