Default Automated Emails on Case Status Change

I am completely new to SugarCRM and not even sure if i am posting this in the right place.

I have just installed SugarCRM Community edition and am in the process of setting up and tailoring for my company however it would be a great help if the client/contact could be emailed automatically when i update the status on their case.

Ideally an email would be sent giving the new status and the description text so that i do not have to manually compose an email.

Is there an extension that is (very) easy to implement or a function or setting already built in that would allow me to set this up?

    Thanks

    Dan

    Hi Dan,

the Pro and Ent versions of Sugar come with a workflow tool which allows you to do exactly what you described. However, this is not available in the CE version. You would need to custom code this.

You could check out the SugarForge or the SugarExchange and see if there is anything available there. Your other option is to hire a developer to do this for you if you cannot do it yourself.
Intelestream has a great deal of experience hosting and customizing the SugarCRM application. Our company is made up by former employees of SugarCRM, and together we have over 50 years of experience working with the application. Hello All,

If you have CE version you can do this by logic_hooks before_save, but it is a developer solution, and upgrade safe.
