Creating a Module and Adding Import Function

We created a new Module called Distribution. How do we add the function to import like Accounts and Leads?

I have the same need, I've created and deployed my own custom module, but now need to import data into it. Any help is appreciated.

All versions of SugarCRM up to 5.0 has no the feature Import for custom modules.
But this feature will be available into SugarCRM 5.1, to be release this month, so let´s wait a bit.

are you sure about SugarCRM 5.1 being released this month?
In Sugar 5.0 maintenance plan Clint talks about patches _Chile and _Peru coming out this month.

Looking here I see Release 5.1 is scheduled for June

while waiting for 5.1, you could start looking at files in <sugar-root>\modules\Import\ to see how it works with other modules.

Correct on the timing of Sugar 5.1 GA. However the first 5.1 beta will be coming out at the end of this month.

but at least they could take a look and see what there is under the hood.

They could try that but the code related to import has a lots of hardcoded implementations which make difficult and upgrade-unsafe to improve.
But, you can try.
