Yes, I know of some people who are doing this. You can use either hosted or cloud. I haven't heard of any major complaints. If you want a large number of people using it then it might be too slow imho. I've tried it with under 10 people and it works great for that no problem. It could handle much more of course but you would have to start to look more carefully at bandwidth and that your server has enough horsepower. With cloud the latency could become an issue. You cannot pick your neighbours which is something you don't hear people talking about much but is becoming more of an issue as more and more people use it.
