Arrow Japanese data in the database table in MySQL

    Hi,

I'm using the SugarCrm application. when i write the contact in Japanses language, the data which goes into the table is seen with ? mark & not the Japanese script.

Plz do let me know what needs to be done to see whatever i write during insert query where the data needs to be in Japanese language in the database table.

If this is not the right place to put this question, plz do guide me where to place this question, so that i'll get immediate response

    Thnx in advance.

    Awaiting for an early reply

    Vaish

I'm having a similar problem. I changed my font encoding to "Unicode (UTF-8)" and I was able to see the contact names. However the issue that I’m still having is when we receive emails in Japanese the email's Japanese fonts are all "???????????????????????????" question marks. Does anyone have an idea how to fix this issue?

    Kind Regards

Yes, the Japanese language pack for SugarCRM 4.2 contains patch files to make SugarCRM compliant with utf-8 encoding. But before applying the Japanese language pack, you need to setup PHP and MySQL carefully to support the UTF-8 encoding and the UTF-8 collation respectively. Otherwise, several encoding or decoding problems happen in the PHP or MySQL layers, which the Japanese language pack can not help.
