Hi,
I've just taken a look at the Sugar web self-service portal and I have to say, it 's well done, very promising!
Overall, it looks like there is a natural fit with what I intend to do but as soon as I start going into the details, it's not that clear how to get the various pieces fitting together... It's been a long time since I last programmed stuff which probably doesn't help.
Let me try to explain:
Beyond the business purpose, I need a website which can be easily managed from the content point of view and on which I want to sell intangible products, namely accesses to eLearning modules. Naturally I chose Joomla and VirtueMart which are up to my expectations in terms of functionalities but more importantly are tightly and seamlessly integrated. But then I want to put customers at the centre of the operations and to be as efficient as it possibly can in terms of operations, hence the idea of a CRM system with a good level of integration with the front office.
With integration I mean:
- When a customer registers on the website, it has to create an account/contact in the CRM
- When a customer updates his profile on the website, it has to reflect straight away in the CRM
- A customer can post cases on the website, the cases will be managed in the CRM and the customer can follow-up the status on the website
- The orders placed by the customers on the website reflect in the CRM
- The product catalog can possibly be managed in the CRM and are exported towards the "eShop"
- ... Probably other things...
But when it comes to implementation, it's not that easy...
- I cannot use the Sugar portal registration because I need to use the VirtueMart one
- I cannot use the Sugar portal login form because I need to use the VirtueMart one
- If I don't use the Sugar portal login form, I cannot integrate with the portal case management module
- And I cannot let the customer update his Sugar profile either as I use the VirtueMart profile form
The Sugar SOAP API might be a solution but I have no clue as to how to implement it.
Does anyone of you have a clue as to how to do this? It is not rocket science what I want to achieve, is it?
To complete the picture, I also have to integrate Joomla / VirtueMart with Moodle for the eLearning side but here I've taken a quick win approach only based on SSO and I'm fine with this for the moment.
Many thanks in advance
Bruno
