    Unhappy Self service portal

I have just a short comment on the self service componet for mambo.

I am sorry to learn that this is rather a mambo hack than a component.

The use of mambo is rather useless when the "component" really destroy
mambo's powerful and good stable features which is the reason mambo is
    choosen in the first place...?

Why not only use a plain static html template instead of all the mambo
hassle, when the hack disable the power of mambo cms and make all
other ready made mambo components useless?

There should be much more easy way to let mambo cms and sugar crm
to speak together than the problems we see with this component.

If I am mistaken,... my appologies.

    I have a suggestion:

Why not make a forge of limbo and have sugar sales fully take over the user management
    of the CMS.

Which also include that every "accounts" get their own user login/password to update their information...

I too gave up on the Mambo integration -- I wish the sugarCRM guys would focus on the features that they have promised instead of focusing on the "paid" version features -- I have noticed that the base product is becoming crappier and crappier -- it has sunk to a new low, but I'm sure the "PAID" version does not have this feeling. Features keep disappearing from the open-source system, and I'm sure they wind up in the PAID version.

This is simply unacceptable -- get a bunch of opensource press, get a bunch of free "Testers" and then screw them all when you take all the good stuff and rip it out of the open source.

    Go figure.

    Hi folks -

We've just released an updated version of the Mambo components at http://www.sugarforge.org/frs/?group_id=10. This version fixes most of the bugs reported so far and includes updated installation documentation.

Our apologies that people have been experiencing issues with the installation. As always, we listen very closely to your feedback. I'd like to hear some constructive feedback from you on how we can make this component better.

As to the comment "I have noticed that the base product is becoming crappier and crappier", well that's just ludicrous. Every release of Sugar Open Source brings more and more features to you at higher and higher quality. That's a fact.

Another fact is that nothing has ever been "ripped out of the open source." Every release brings more functionality to the Open Source edition. For instance email templates were not in Open Source in v2.5 and now are in v3.0. For instance you now have campaign management, email marketing, project management, an Outlook free/busy server all in the Open Source edition.

    Cheers!

I've been following you guys since 2.0 and you've done an incredible, incredible job. Every update packs more and more features and 3.0 is undoubtably the best so far. Don't listen to those who only spew out garbage at everything. I've used many other CRMs and only SugarCMS has been so fantastic! I await eagerly for the next version.

There are no other open source projects maturing so quickly. It hasn't been half a year since 2.0.

Again, thank you for your hard work, your end result is that it makes all our lives easier and we eternally grateful.

I tried to install on Mambo 4.5.2 (because there is nothing else available on their site), and I get a blank page after installing and configuring the sugar_portal component.

How about you? Did you succeed?

I would like to thank for the quality software you've been developping along these last months. I've been following the improvments but I'm still short on installing Mambo (451 and) +SugarCrm (251 d and 301). I've followed carefully the tutorial and tried to install on clean installs with no luck. I always get an Sugarregistration problem.

    Any clues ?

Great software. Kudos to the developers for fantastic work.

I am also having sugerlogin and portal problems with mambo 4.5.2. Any suggestions and any info required to help in troubleshooting?

    Thanks,

    Julian

    Hi there,

Mambo 4.5.2 appears not to be working out of the box .. perhaps Clint (or one of the other guys) might want share what the key files they've used that affect the Mambo side of things (as obviously the Sugar V3 aspect works). We have a couple of developers here who know Mambo well, but a head start would be appreciated!

    Regards,
    Scott
