Hi,
I am also interested in contributing with this project.
Let me know what needs to be done to get this going..
Thanks,
Marcos
Hi I´m using sugar force Version 4.5.0 (Build 1124) with language package SugarEnt-4.2.1a-lang_es_es-20060716.zip
The result is not to good al the accent reslut in stange strings:
examples:
Telefonó----> Tel馯no
Direccion---> Direcibsp :
etc.
did somebody did the same with better results or is there a new language package available?
Or is somebody creating an we can contribute in any way?
Thanks in advance,
Paul
HI Paul,
Check this code change in includes/utils.php:
function insert_charset_header() {
header('Content-Type: text/html; charset=UTF-8');
}
function insert_charset_header() {
header('Content-Type: text/html; charset=iso-8859-1');/*UTF-8*/
}
This tells sugarcrm to use ISO-8859-1 instead of UTF-8 and thereby corrects the problem.
Otherwise you have to change every acute vowel like this: á = á / é = é / etc. (ñ = ñ
Good luck.

Hi!
I already started translating some of the modules of the 4.5 version to spanish, I already have finished Accounts, ACL. ACLActions, ACLRoles, Activities, Administration, Audit and currently working on Bugs. Does anyone know how can we manage to put all of this into a common project or something? Maybe a CVS into some SugarForge project?

Saludos.
Gracias
Hi, I'm updating the Spanish (Spain) Language Pack to version 4.5.0. Although not complete yet, you may download the latest CVS sources from the sugarcrm4 branch, and give it a try (please don't report errors on non released packages).
I have published a Language Pack release with CVS sources, for thouse who don't want to mess with CVS.
I hope to release it soon. As Lamorack mentions, I think that UTF-8 is the way to go, so all the files have been reencoded in UTF-8.
Please, keep in mind that when one particular character set in established in Sugar, preferably in the LBL_CHARSET variable defined in include/language/xx_xx.lang.php, all the files which contain i18n strings should use that character set. Even config.php should be UTF-8 encoded, so that the the available language list is properly displayed. This is especially important when Sugar is configured to use more than one language.
Regarding the database character set, you may use whichever you want. We are using ISO-8859-15 right now, with no problems, as PHP transcodes the strings to the resulting page character set. Of course, using ISO-8859-15 limits the characters you may introduce in your different database records: names and descriptions of account, contacts, opportunities, etc.
If you deal with multinational accounts, consider using UTF-8 at the database level to properly store your (Greek, Arabic, Hebrew, Chinese, etc.) contact names in their original language (non-transliterated form).
Saludos.

Finally, the Spanish (Spain) Language Pack for SugarSuite 4.5.0d (all flavors) has been released.
Following SugarCRM i18n trends, this pack uses UTF-8 encoding. However, your existing database character set shouldn't be migrated to use this pack.
The pack doesn't include help files. That's a work in progress.
á = á
é = é
í = í
ó = ó
ú = ú
ñ = ñ
Ñ = Ñ
