Default Which language pack tool would you recommend?

I see that there are a couple language pack tools out there. A question came up in the #sugarcrm IRC chat room today as to which one is best.

The main ones I could find are:

Am I missing any? Which one do you like best?
Sugar Developer Zone - developer resources | Sugar University - user and admin training
Sugar Docs - user and admin documentation |
Sugar Bug Tracker - Enter or view bugs
SugarForge- open source modules, themes, lang packs | SugarExchange - commercial extensions

Can I vote for "coding by hand"? The STS tool didn't work for me, and LST doesn't seem to be for the translation process itself? (according to the pdf manual).

I'd like to bring this thread back to life as I've been frequently asked which language pack tool is the best to start with. Besides SugarDev's "edit the code directly" approach, what would you suggest?

    Hi

I prefer Sugar Translation Suite but it has not been compatible with Sugar 5.0 or 5.1 (and the latest PHP).

I think Sugar Team should use gettext as it is getting a standard way of localizing PHP applications. There are a lots of excellent translation tools for gettext.

I have been working on my tool (LST) for a few months now and I think you will like what I have done. I have added a much better editor to it and improved the error finding abilities.

My tool is strictly for taking an old language pack and updating it to a new version of SugarCRM. It has the ability to scan a language pack for errors (everything from missing keys to actual PHP errors to BOMs), edit language packs and then export a finished zip file ready to distribute.

I hope to have the new version up in a week or so and I will go over it at SugarCon with anyone who wants to.

Seems like a good idea but no idea where it would fit in the timeline, there are so many bigger fish to fry, anyway...

I'd love to meet with anyone to show off the new tool. I don't really translate languages so I have no idea how it's done right now. But I think I have the basics and maybe with a 15 minute get together you can help me flesh it out. I am working on a dictionary idea but that's about the last thing I have to add (it's a big thing but I should have it written by next week). If anyone wants to get together for a GoToMeeting sometime this week or weekend just let me know.

I looked at the other tool and sucked in all the good ideas I saw from that tool.
