Default Translation - how to do it ?

    Hello all,

I would like to start working on translating 5.2 version, but since I am new to all this, would you please let me know how should I do it ?

I can see that there are language files with labels in every folder, but I am not sure how could I create a new language pack and work with it ?

Thank you very much for any information.

    Best,
    Zoran Kuret

Where are you from? Slovenia? Send me an email to info(at)iscon.at, I guess I can explain it to you. Essentially it is just the *en_us*.php files translated and tagged with you language code and then packed with a so called mainfest added. But as everywhere there are a few tricks how you can speed up the process dramatically

    It's not very difficult.

    1. Extract the original files. They all are called en_us.lang.php and they are usually in a subdirectory called "language". There are some exceptions but they have to be treated separately anyway.
    2. Extract from the en_us files the part that needs to be tranlated. E.g. it says:
    'LABEL_AB' => 'About'
then you just need to get out the 'About' without quotation marks somehow.
    3. Whatever you extracted - put it through a translation routine (there are quite a few products out there)
    4. Replace the English concepts with your Serbian ones = reverse the extraction routines and rename en_us to whatever is used for yout language

For CE we are talkiing 10.000 lines approxemately of which 7.000 or so are unique. Pro/Ent is about one third more.

I've been using some translating tools for sugar, but my language pack was not created properly.

What is the easiest way to make changes to translation when a sugar update comes out?

Is there a tool to see changes and only add new lines for translation?

I know some translation tools do that...but then I have to manually reformat my include/lang.file.php when creating language pack, because the translation tool doesn't create this file correctly.

    Thanks

I have been working with translations before and know they are tidious work.

It is now a long time since a danish pack was made and I am considering building this. Someone in this thread mentioned some tools. What tools are there and could these be provided? Also if there are procedures to follow these would be of great help.

    Regards

    Ksoender

In fact, I have been using some translating tools for sugar but still my language pack was not formed so well. However, thanks a lot for providing such information.
