Add fields to Relationships with Studio

I know that this subject has been discussed in the past and that other users have done it through code writing I would like to ask if the feature to add fields to relationships inside Studio is planned in future releases. This feature would be very helpful for everybody who likes to customize the application.

Just a suggestion, but you might want to provide an example of an idea you have in mind for the use of such a feature.

That would likely help get you some supporters and make it clearer to the Sugar product team why the feature is necessary.

I added a Module COMPANIES which I relate to persons (Targes, Leads, Contacts), I also relate persons between them. All this is done for prospecting purposes, which means that we want to gather, join and share as much valuable informacion about our business prospects as possible, for example who owns/works for which company, who is boss/relative/friend/person of influence with whom, etc.

In the past we achieved our goals with MS Access DBs, where we added m2m-relationships which we complemented with either drop-down selection fields or fields which could be filled out.

I would wish this could be done in SugarCRM, eventually by adding this function in Studio.

OK. Here is a real life one I'm on. A table of materials that has a many to one relationship with a list of products. Any single product can have one or more materials in it. Think bill of materials, and you're spot on.

If I could simply define a relationship between 2 fields, instead of a field to a table (module), it would be golden. In fact, I can't see how you could even do this with sugar unless there is a trick (is there?). So if it has to be code, fair enough... Any pointers to the work-around? Is it upgrade safe?
