Letters + envelopes printing

I am surprised that there is no "print envelopes" or "print letters" option under Contact module. Or am I missing something?
I would like the letters, starting with "Dear <first name> <last name> ...", to be printed out for all chosen contacts all at once. Next thing, I would like to print all chosen contact addresses on envelopes all at once, without using MS Word or any other program. This is something what CRM should be able to do. For example, Donorperfect.com CRM can do that.

Have I overlooked this option in SugarCRM? Is there any other solution?

I would argue that the product you reference is more the exception than is the rule.

Most horizontal CRM packages leverage Word (or other word processing software) for this task. This is true for SugarCRM, MSCRM, Sage and the vast majority of other horizontal packages.

One was able to buy the Word plugin for SugarCRM CE before, but that option is no longer available. Thus, you are left to using Word's mail merge capability in combination with Sugar's export capabilities, unless you purchase a subscription to the Express, Pro or Enterprise edition.

CRM is supposed to be a time saver too.
I have no clue what business you are in, but sending out paper news letters and greeting cards (new year cards) is a must for any company. So it is a shame that this "top notch" CRM does not support this.

I think you are misinterpreting my comments.

For one, I never stated that the desired output is not necessary, including the ones you mention in your reply.

My main point was that the leading horizontal CRM packages have all concluded that leveraging Word for this task is a better approach, rather than trying to re-invent the wheel by trying to mirror similar functionality into the CRM package itself.

This seems like a reasonable approach to me, as I'd rather see a CRM package focus on maturing its CRM features, not its word processing capabilities. But to each his own I suppose.

Can you give me a quick list of the reasons a mortgage professional should use your CRM over every other mortgage CRM software out there? What is your unique selling proposition? Can the content of the materials that your CRM system sends out be 100% customizable? I have a lot of the content already created for my mortgage professionals, they just need a system to deploy it on autopilot. Can your system do this? Please advise. Thanks!

I am not sure if you are directing the question specifically at me or not, but if you are, you should be aware that this is not *my* CRM. I just happen to be a very active community member with numerous years of CRM market experience.

That being said, I have no way of answering your questions except on very broad terms. You haven't given me any information about how you do or intend to do business, so it is impossible for me to tell you how any feature of Sugar would be better than the similar in other products for the task at hand. For all I know, you might have some company policy in place that dictates that any and all web apps used internally must be ActiveX based, in which case, Sugar wouldn't fit the bill.

I don't know of any single piece of software that is universally better than all of its competitors in any given scenario it may confront.

For some people, Sugar is more adequate, for others it isn't. Which applies to you would be based on what you are trying to accomplish, not my general opinion of the available packages.

In a nutshell, use the proper tool for the task at hand. If not, you'll be disappointed.

Hi..Word 2007 includes a special Envelopes command that can quickly and professionally print a mailing address on an envelope. You can send the envelope directly to your printer, or you can add the envelope to an existing document so that you can print your letter and envelope together.
