When creating new activities, scheduled calls, todo's etc. it should be possible to check a "send notification when event/activity... is due" checkbox.

In his profile, each user should be able to specify the type of notification he wishes to receive. Such as:
- Each day at 6 a.m. send me an E-Mail listing all "things" I have to do TODAY in chronological order
- Send me an E-Mail 5 minutes before a "thing" is due
- Send me a Tweet when a "thing" is due
- Send me a text message on my cell phone when a "thing" marked as "top priority" is due

That way, Sugar becomes pro-active and user who don't use the CRM 24/7 are less likely to forget things, calls, events, appointments etc.
