In iPhone OS there is the ability to subscribe to an iCal calendar - suggest you try working with that.
For example, in info@hand, our instructions to do this are:
To show your info@hand calendar information within iCal, first copy the iCal subscription link from the Detail view of your My Account screen. Be sure you have a publish key set before using this link. Then access the Apple iCal program and choose to subscribe to a Calendar. Then you have to paste the subscription link into the URL box. The iCal application has a frequency drop-down when setting up a subscription. The shortest sync interval you can set is every 5 minutes.
This process only displays your info@hand calls and meetings within iCal. It is a reference only feature, so to change any of the information you still have to make changes within info@hand. Similarly you can use the Calendar on an iPhone (with OS 3.0 or later) to view scheduled Calls and Meetings within info@hand. To do this, go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Add Account on your iPhone. Select Other at the bottom of the Add Account screen, then select Add Subscribed Calendar. Paste the iCal subscription link referenced above into the Server field, then click on Save.
Note: Some systems need the iCal subscription link to begin with http://, while others (like the iPhone) require it to start with webcal://. If one is not working for you, be sure to try the other.
