    Default Sugar and iPad

    Hello,

I've been trying out Sugar CE on iPad as is just accessing it through Safari and everything works fine except for typing emails.

The only issue is that the actual Text area where you want to type your email is not recognized as an area where one would type so the onscreen keyboard doesn't pop-up.

Is there a work around or anyway to get this working?

If not, Sugar team, please make this happen.

    Thanks!

    Danyel

    Question Re: Sugar and iPad

Same here, but as e-mail is an important part of our workflow, a solution would be more than welcome. Anyone?

Same problem here... And this is a mayor problem for our sales representatives because they are on the road using their iPad's. I Tried changing SMTP over SSL instead of TLS and didn't work.
    Any suggestions??

Well, I came over to this thread because I was looking for iPad App for SugarCRM. It looks like they either are working so hard on a solution so they have no time to answer questions and rather want to surprise us with a real sexy app or they dont care to much. I think there are a lot of salespeople outside who would very much like to use an iPad for their business. It looks cool and it works fine for such basic things like doing mail and filling out webforms - and thats what sugar is about, technically speaking from the frontend view, isnt it?
(I did not mention the dashlet-flash-problem, thats another story. We would either need a real app for that or change to HTML5.)
Anyway - just a few words from the guys on how they are going to deal with "iPad" would be appreciated. Thx Jo

Edit: Just to add fuel to the flames: What about: http://www.sugarcrm.com/crm/about/pr...rcon-iPad.html :
"SugarCRM, the world's leading provider of open source customer relationship management (CRM) software, today announced a Sugar iPad application, a fully customizable CRM application that leverages the iPad's unique user experience ...." Thats a year ago and still no iPad App available on the Appstore.

    Hello All

To offer an alternative, we (RhoLogic) have released a SugarCRM client for iPad

This takes advantage of iPad real estate, supports standard modules and custom fields.
It also provides true offline access to the data so the Sales guys can still use it without needing 3G or internet connection. (full functionality as per normal Sugar)

It works on all version of Sugar greater than 5.5.1 (CE, Pro, Ent). It also works on iPhone, iPad, Android and BlackBerry.

It is however, not free. (just want to make that really clear, so as not to mislead anyone).

    Cost is $140/device/year.

If you would like to see a demo, after downloading it from the App store (search for RhoLogic)

use the following details to connect:
    Server: applethinsync.rhologic.com
    Login: apple
    Password: apple

This is a demo version using the demo sugar data.

Thank you for your offer and reply. Demo looks good. but in fact we were purchasing the Pro Version because of good mobile access and features and the possibility to work on it with the iPad as announced. So I would have expected the SugarCRM team to offer an iPad App to their paying customers instead of paying another developer.
So again my question to the developers of sugar:
What are your plans with the Sugar iPad App? It looks like if its dying away.

    Hi Josch

We will be releasing an iPad specific app later this year. Today we have the iPhone app and the Android app is coming in a couple months.

Which version of Sugar CE are you using. The Sugar 6 and later should work with the iPad browser.

I researched CRM apps extensively before adoption, and one of the primary reasons I chose Sugar was the purported mobile access. I have to say thus far I am very disappointed. The iPhone app has not worked correctly for me since we started months ago, and no one seems to be able to fix it, or care about fixing it, and no newer versions have been released. So that was a waste of time so far.
The HTML charts are a welcome change for the web interface, but it is still MUCH slower than a native app, which I was very excited to hear that Sugar had gone ahead and bought with the iEnterprises acquisition.

But now I hear talk about doing that ridiculous hamstringing of the Sugar platform by not offering access to the mobile capabilities for anyone but enterprise users. This is just a bad sign. It has been demonstrated over and over and over again that the way to make more money in this sort of business is to create a great product and have LOTS Of subscribers. This ridiculous idea that some super secret features can be held out and that some users will pay more for it, only creates incremental increases in revenues, for the company that chooses this strategy, but mostly creates frustration and disenchantment with their larger user base. It's a short sighted business strategy, and it has me wondering why I used the advertised "mobile" aspects of sugar as any kind of criteria for my decision.

I really like Sugar as a whole, but this kind of thing is last decade thinking, and is moving FAR too slowly as well. I hope someone will see the light on this issue.

Mobile is available starting in the Pro version, although a more advanced mobile app is available for Ent users.
