    Default Task Types

Perhaps this is already in the works or has been discussed and not implemented. Basically, we need a more specific activity type--instead of a generic call, task, or email. This would enable users to classify their activities as one of several different types (Performed X, Researched Y, Did such and such, etc.). Initially, I thought this could be easily accomplished by just adding a drop down in the create task area.

We're coming from OnContact CRM and they have what are called Actions that can be specified when creating an activity. So you can have any number of Actions within the activity group. The reason it is important to our organization is because we run reports based on the activity types, and a generic call or task is insufficient for these purposes.

    Any ideas?

I'd suggest adding a custom action dropdown in Studio to tasks and track that there.

Nice, that seems to do what I need. I have only used Sugar for about 2-3 hours total, so this is all new to me. I'm researching the viability of replacing our current OnContact CRM deployment with Sugar CE.

I'm not too familiar with OnContact but Sugar is very customizable to the point where you can do most if not anything you need to do to support your processes. Most of the time those needs can be met simply by using the built-in Studio that lets you configure layouts, add/remove fields, etc. If you're looking at wanting good Workflow support, Reporting, etc definitely take a look at what the Pro version offers. There's a comparison grid on the main Sugarcrm.com page somewhere.
