Default custom field to sugar field

Is there any way to migrate the data from a custom field to a pre-defined sugar field?

I have added a few custom fields in the LEADS module to collect data on clients, such as annual revenue. I see that an "annual revenue" field already exists in the ACCOUNTS module. Can i append the data i collected in the custom field to the pre-defined filed in the Accounts module? If yes, how?

I have tried custom field to custom field and that works as long as the custom field in both the modules is named exaclty the same and perhaps they are the same type too. BUt it would be silly for me to add an "annual revenue" field in the account module when one already exists. I don't mind editing PHP files, if someone can point me in the right direction, I can play around with things on my own.

    TIA
