Red face Enable Tab Link of iFrame to All Users

    Hi,

I have added a Website using "Portal" from Admin Menu.

It shows a Tab and it also shows another site in iFrame.

But I am not able to enable it to other users other than Admin.

If other users click on Tab Link, they get "Warning: You do not have permission to access this module".

But I cannot find how to enable it other users.

    Please help.

    Hello ashboss,

Do you have any Roles defined (in Admin -> Role Management) that would prevent users from accessing the iFrames or My Portal module? When you create the "My Portal" or "iFrame" record, do you set the 'Type' field to 'Global?' This should make it appear for all users.

Was a solution ever found to this?

I have my portals set to global, but I do have role's defined for users. Is there an option to set roles for the portal module? Please advise. Thanks.

Having the same problem in SugarCRM Professional 5.2.0a

Is this a big nasty old bug? Or is it something simple that a lot of people are asking about and nobody knows how to answer? In any case, what would be the point in having a Portal feature if nobody but administrators can access it?

Thumbs down Re: Enable Tab Link of iFrame to All Users

Okay, so this is a bug. Apparently it's just certain users, because if I duplicate the user and assign a new username and the exact same settings, it works... and no matter what I do, I cannot give portal access to a user, once that user is corrupted somehow.

Bizarre. I don't even know how to log it as a bug, since it seems to just happen randomly. I've noticed it happening with modules, too. Once in a while, a module will just stop showing up in the privilege matrix, so I have to uninstall and reinstall the module to get it to function again. I don't know how to fix it for an active user, though. I can't exactly switch him to a new account to fix it.

Not sure if you still need help with this issue, but this issue commonly occurs because of hidden tabs. If the My Portals (i.e., the iFrames) tab is hidden for a non-admin user, then they will be unable to view any portal pages you make for them.

Was this found to be a bug?

I notice that my users can view the "My Portal" subtab and the sites defined in it when I have "My Portal" displayed (as defined in the Configure Tabs section). Unfortuanetly "My Portal" shows up under the "My Tools" tab along with the defined "My Portal" sites. This is unfortunate because I would prefer that "My Portal" would not show up at all, but the defiend sites would.

Now when I hide "My Portal" (as defined in the Configure Tabs section) then instead of a "My Tools" tab, I see a "My Portal" tab with the defined sites listed as subtabs. This would be perfect if my users were able to access the defined sites, but instead they see an error stating "Warning: You do not have permission to access this module."

Does anyone know a way to configure SugarCRM to either display the "My Portal" tab as a group tab where users can access the subtabs?

    Any help would be appreciated.
