    Question Hide Tabs as per the User Role

    hello ..

    i have installed sugar crm 6.2.1 in my local wamp server 2.1 using windows xp 3


    now as an admin i have set Roles for the users.

    suppose i have set a one user can see Contacts only. He can see the contacts , edit it or whatever he wants .. which is working fine.

    but what i want to do here is , i want to hide the other tabs which are showing now.

    i mean if i log in to that user , even though m seeing only 1 option in all the Tabs as Contacts , but i want to hide the unnecessary tabs like Marketing , Activities etc.. which are not in use ..

    i want to do like this for each and every user .. suppose the other user have CASES privilege then he can only see SUPPORT tab and other tabs must be hidden for him as a user .

    can someone guide me how to do this ..

    If you configure roles with limited access to modules you don't need and set for each user the role fitting his needs Sugar won't show all the tabs with modules the user is not allowed to work with. The grouping of modules to tabs can be configured in admin->Configure Grouped Modules.

    Example: in my screenshot I defined a tab "New Group" with module 'projects'. If I define a role restricting access to this module and select this role for user A, A does not see this tab "New Group". If I change the role and give access to 'projects' the tab gets visible for A again.

    i did not get you properly mate ..

    can u explain me briefly .

    see i have already created users , and i want to disable suppose Sales Tab and wants to show only Support Tab for user A(which i have already created) . what exactly should i do then from here on ..

    please can u guide me

    In 'Configure Group Modules' you define which modules should be shown under which tab. So you may have to set/change the two tabs for sales and support people. In both tabs you set the modules they should use. If there are modules they all should use I'd put them in a third tab.

    Then you define two roles for sales and support people. The roles should restrict access to these modules the users with that role should not see. For both roles you select all the users for sales and support respectively.

    Now they should see only the modules that they should use and tabs including only modules they are not allowed to see will disappear. I think it is important that no module is in both tabs - support and sales. Otherwise both tabs will be visible if such a module is allowed for a role.

    (My English is not the best ... I hope you'll understand what i try to explain.)
