How to use REST to perform CRUD operation

Hello
I am having an external php file from which i need to send contact information(including email) to the Contact Module to create a new record and also add email too. For that i need to use REST services. But I m new to this I know by using SOAP also it can be done but i need to use REST.
Please provide the information as I am new to REST. Its urgent.

First of all i would like to thank you for this valuable knowledge that you had provided.


I think i need any api of REST to implement REST in an independent php page outside the suarcrm to communicate with sugar objects.
Actually I have downloaded about 2-3 api but i m confused.
So I wiil be thankfull to you if you also provide me the the rest api and how to use it
