iPhone & Android App - Calls

Hi,

When using the Apps for SugarCRM (Android or iPhone) the following happens. When viewing a Contact or Account next to Phone Number an icon appears that will allow me to make a Phone Call from the App.

In the Calls modules - I added three custom fields to hold Phone Numbers, so users will have the phone number there and then in the Calls Record without having to move to the related Contact or Account etc. But in the App you cannot make Phone Calls from this part.

Is this somehing that can be done by editing code in SugarCRM or is this something built into the App?

Were the fields created of type 'phone'?

I created them back in Sugar version 5.0. I didn't know there was a type Phone? So If I change the vardefs for the fields the app will be able to make a call from it?

Also I was just about to post another thread regarding the SugarApp for Android - It seems to fail if I try to use it to access my crm using https

So it seems that the https is a bug.

I have made the fields of type phone and I now get the option to make a call. Another issue now is that when I try to enter a Phone Number into the App it tells me invalid value found. Do I need to enter them in a specific format for the App?

Is this in the mobile client or in the normal browser app?

Hi all

Not sure if this will help you, but the iSAM Mobi app will handle these field issues for you, as it makes decision about numbers based both upon field type, and numerical construction. This will enable you to invoke a call from within the app. More details in sugarforge iSAM Mobi.

You can download it Free from the Android Market, although it's only going to be Free until 30th March as the updated version will be being sold for the same price as the iPhone version.
