My apologies if this question has been asked before. I've ben searching online for the past week, and couldn't find a satisfactory answer.
I have a device which runs on a local computer. It feeds the computer specific sensory data to a VB interface, which querys and retains the information on MS Access, and loads specific formulas which prints out an appropriate report. So far no problem, everything works great.
However, I have been looking for a way to duplicate the device, and switch from a local access db to a SQL db. Hopefully, in the future, it will have thousands of incoming feeds.
I was wondering if:
1. is it possible to import the existing databases and queries, simply to replace the vb interface with sugarcrm as a SQL connector?
2. How will I go about on importing all existing table data to sugarcrm? I have ran several localized tests on sugarcrm, just to get a taste of it. but even though it imported it to SQL easy, but I am not sure how to specify the tables, or structure the table so sugarcrm will be able to access them.
3. is it possible to feed sugarcrm with vb basic code using certain modules?
Please forgive any newb questions. I just want to know if this is the right direction. Would I be better off rewriting the vb apps to communicate directly to the sql on local computers using sugarcrm, or anything else as a connector.
