You may have noticed that Sugar 5.2.0g was released to the public yesterday, but is no longer available today. If so, you’re probably wondering why.
We discovered that a small percentage of instances encountered issues with missing labels as a result of applying the 5.2.0g patch. The issues manifested primarily as empty module tabs and empty dropdowns. These issues are limited to the user interface and do not cause any loss of data, or introduce any security issues. We have classified these issues as bug #32146.
The number of Sugar instances that would have seen these issues is limited to the following criteria, to the best of our knowledge:
- Instances that were originally created prior to 5.1.0.
- Instances that contained at least one custom dropdown list, where the name of the dropdown list contained characters other than the letters A – Z, or an underscore character, e.g. a whitespace character, a number, or a symbol.
- Instances that upgraded to another 5.2.0 patch level, prior to upgrading to 5.2.0g.
- Instances that upgraded to 5.2.0g using the Silent Upgrader option.
We will be releasing a new 5.2.0h patch to replace 5.2.0g as soon as humanly possible, so that you will be able to take advantage of all of the other bug fixes that 5.2.0g was intended to provide.
For the select few instances that encountered bug #32146 – and I do want to stress that it is a very select few – you can fix your 5.2.0g instance with the following repair script process:
- Download the attached file, “32146-patch.php”
- Place the file “32146-patch.php” into your root Sugar directory
- Point your browser to http://YOUR_SUGAR_URL/32146-patch.php
- This will execute the repair script immediately
- Point your browser to http://YOUR_SUGAR_URL/index.php and verify that your labels have been restored.
- Remove the file “32146-patch.php” from your root Sugar directory
5.2.0h will also use a similar repair script through the Upgrade Wizard.
If you encounter any further problems relating to bug #32146, please let us know.
Edit: The 32146-patch.php file has been removed, now that 5.2.0h is available.
