Forums: Extend Latest Post

Forums' "Latest Posts" is useful for logged in members but can time out prematurely. So if you get called away while halfway through the Latest Post items and come back and refresh them, you'll end up with a different list.

One suggestion was to have "Latest Posts" and "Today's Post" both available for logged in users.

Perhaps a newer version of vBulletin has this type of feature already built in.

Oh please, please, please whoever the current vBulletin god is.... I hate having to log off to get the 'todays posts' link. I miss alot of messages that way. I tried to use the advanced search function but no dice there either, you can't just search for all messages since yesterday, you have to give it a search term too.

I've found this snippet that we can implement to allow quick access to posts within a popup-specifed number of days. It may be useful for this.

I've bumped the inactivity setting from 900 seconds to 1800 (30 minutes).

From vBulletin admin: This is the time in seconds that a user must remain inactive before any unread posts are marked read. This setting also controls how long a user will remain on Who's Online after their last activity.
