Hi,

What do you think the cookie monster eats ?
Hi DragonFlyMaster,
We continually ban spammers, and just like the Terminator, they keep coming back...Spam is like graffiti, and we work hard to eliminate it quickly when it appears.
To give you some insight into what goes on "behind the scenes" here, every morning I log in and scan the forums for spammers that have appeared overnight. I ban each one permanently (the "ban" function uses the IP address to lock out the user from ever visiting the site again) and then delete all posts created by the spammer. Througout the day, we'll keep watch on the forums to see if any new spam posts have appeared.
There are actually about three of us (Andy, Clint and I) who monitor the forums regularly. Even then, occasionally a spam post will elude all of our watchful eyes; some helpful forum members will report the post to let us know of those cases.
We have been fiddling with some of the settings on the forum software to slow spammers down, and we have seen noticiable improvement. We want to send the clear message to them that their posts are unwanted and will be removed immediately. I just wish these idiots would do something productive with their lives.

Hi Susie,
thanks for your reply.
I didn't mean that Sugar Team members do nothing about spammers, and I didn't know about the everyday-spam-watchers' work.
What I wanted to ask was: if I notice a spammer, how can I report him and his spam posts?

Ah, got it.
You can always send an email to "sugarforge at sugarcrm.com" and that will get to the right people (us spamkillers). We appreciate an extra set of eyes! Most of the people on the alias live in the western US so we'll scrape off the message when we see it or alerted, which might be some hours later if you're in another part of the world and we're still asleep! But we'll get to it, definitely.

I consider this forum a useful place to share knowledge and it's the first source of answers to my questions about Sugar development and I'd like it to remain such a place, so I'll do whatever I can.

Better yet is to use the "Report Post" icon that appears on the title of each post ... the red triangle with the exclamation mark.
